The Al-Naba’ Project is designed to help learners and non-native users of Arabic for the purposes of research and counter-extremism (CVE) work navigate the language and content of Islamic State’s weekly Al-Naba’ newsletter.

The project consists of a continually expanding Glossary of vocabulary, terms and terminology (with over 3,000 entries currently) that cross-reference to explanatory content elsewhere in Al-Naba’, and an Analysis section of reports and briefs that look at Al-Naba’ from perspectives that may assist researchers in finding and understanding content.

While our goal is to assist the understanding of Al-Naba’, we are aware that doing so may attract the wrong audience. For that reason, we try to restrict access to only verified researchers and institutions with a benign interest in the field. We also do not host any copies or individual pages of Al-Naba’ for view or download. Researchers are expected to have access via legitimate research sites that host such primary source materials.
